Why Colorado families choose Epic Minds

What families tell us matters most

We come to you

No clinic commute, no disrupting your child's routine before therapy even starts. Sessions happen at home, at school, or in the community, wherever your child is most comfortable and where the skills actually need to work.

We handle the insurance

Health First Colorado covers ABA for children under 21 through the federal EPSDT benefit, with no annual dollar cap. Colorado's Medicaid system runs through seven Regional Accountable Entities and which one coordinates your child's care depends on your county. We know the difference and handle that side of things for you.

Colorado just raised the bar on ABA oversight

On June 2, 2026, Governor Polis signed HB26-1425, establishing the Applied Behavior Analysis Practice Act. Individual practitioner licensure is required from July 1, 2028. Until then, BACB board certification remains the operative professional standard and every analyst on your child's team holds it.

The goal is your child not needing us

Short-term therapy, long-term results. We build skills that travel outside the session and into real life. The aim is a child who needs us less over time, not more.

ABA therapy services in Colorado

In-home ABA therapy

Sessions at your home, on your schedule. Your child learns in the environment they know best and skills built there carry over faster.

School-based ABA therapy

We coordinate with your child's school so classroom goals and therapy goals point in the same direction. IEP meeting coming up? Tell us before it's scheduled.

Parent training

You're with your child far more hours than we are. Parent training is how progress sticks. We sit with you, show you what works, and make sure you know exactly what to do between sessions.

Autism assessment and diagnosis

Diagnostic waits in Colorado can be long. We work with a diagnostic partner offering virtual evaluations, with most families scheduled within two to three weeks.

Community-based ABA

Skills need to hold up at the park, the grocery store, and everywhere else. Community sessions build them in the real settings that matter.

What we work on together

The skills that change a day

When communication breaks down, routines fall apart, or big emotions take over the day, that's exactly where ABA is designed to help. Every program is built around what your child specifically needs.

Communication and language

What this could mean for your family in Colorado

Your child asking for what they need instead of melting down. Getting through a morning routine without a fight. Playing alongside another kid at the park instead of watching from the edge. Walking into a new classroom without the whole day falling apart.

These are the moments families tell us about. They don't happen by accident.

You'll know exactly what's happening

Monthly progress reports

Written so you can actually read them, with the data behind them.

Open communication

Your BCBA answers your questions. You won't be chasing anyone down.

Measurable goals

Specific, trackable, and reviewed as your child grows.

Insurance handled

From prior authorization through renewals. We take that on so you can focus on your child.

Insurance we accept in Colorado

Health First Colorado and most major plans

Colorado’s commercial insurance mandate under Senate Bill 09-244 requires most private health plans to cover ABA for autism spectrum disorder, up to $34,000 per year, or higher depending on the policy. Self-funded employer plans are federally regulated and sit outside that mandate, so those need individual verification. We check yours before anything starts.

Not sure what you have? Give us your plan name and member ID and we’ll check it at no cost.

Questions Colorado parents are asking

Does my child need an autism diagnosis to start?

For most insurance plans, yes. Health First Colorado covers behavioral therapy based on medical necessity, which in some cases can include children without a confirmed autism diagnosis, but ABA specifically requires one for most coverage paths. If your child hasn't been evaluated yet, reach out and we'll help you figure out the fastest path to getting started.

How does Health First Colorado cover ABA?

Through the federal EPSDT benefit, Health First Colorado covers medically necessary ABA for children under 21 with no annual dollar cap. Coverage is the same statewide. Your RAE handles authorization and care coordination for your region based on your county.

What does Colorado's autism insurance mandate cover?

Under Senate Bill 09-244, most state-regulated commercial health plans must cover ABA for autism spectrum disorder up to $34,000 per year. Self-funded employer plans sit outside state law and need separate verification. We check your specific plan before anything starts.

Are your behavior analysts licensed in Colorado?

Colorado's new Applied Behavior Analysis Practice Act, signed June 2, 2026, requires individual practitioner licensure by July 1, 2028. Until that date, BACB board certification is the operative professional standard. Every analyst on your child's team holds it.

My child is under three. Where do I start?

Early Intervention Colorado covers children from birth to age three at no cost and with no income requirement. The referral line is 833-733-3734. After the third birthday, that's where we come in.

Will someone really come to my home in Colorado?

Yes. In-home is our primary service, not a fallback. We serve families across the Front Range and beyond.

How long does ABA therapy take?

It depends entirely on your child. What stays consistent is the goal: your child needing less of us over time, not more.

What if my child doesn't connect with the therapist?

Tell us. We'll make a change. A child who doesn't trust their therapist isn't learning from them.
